typical local
yesterday, there was an inter-school chess tournament. i could not make it, since i have another assignment, i.e. taking another group of students to the math exhibition, which is located in Tutong. so, i asked my assisstant (an expat) to take my place as chess club head, to take the students to this college where the chess tournament was held.
ok, today i met him, asking how did the girls do? well, they were doing quite ok, not bad. sekali, becerita tia. masa menunggu2 students tu kan, he was playing this chess games with other supervising teachers. he won most of the games, and they did enjoy the games. he even competed with the national chess coach. although he lost the game, he really enjoy the company of the national coach, describing "he is a funny person". then, there was this guy coming to him, as a messenger. rupanya ada this local guy, member of the Brunei Chess Federation memerhatikan dari jauh. he offered a challenge. my assisstant thought it was a normal challenge, so he accepted it.
sekali, this local challenger, dengan ambungnya said "i challenge you to a 3-minute game" of course my assisstant ni refuse, that game will be too fast for him, so they agreed to play a 5-minute game. now, what do u expect when a pro player is playing an amateur? A WASTE OF TIME!!! do u believe apa this local guy buat? every time my assisstant make a move, this guy criticizes the move, making fun to it and laughing as loud as possible. by the end, when this guy won the game, he (again) make this big laugh, macam minta attention from every people around.
now, this is what i don't like about our own people. membari malas bah. even though u r very good at the game, do not make your opponent look stupid with very stupid gesture. my assisstant was being humiliated in this case. baik jua ia ni nda buat tindakan bah. i ask people, why our people tend to do this?!!! masa ia bercerita ni kan, my face tabal banar dah, macam terasa it was me yang memalukan ia tu. what happen kalau kitani di negara orang lain, sekali kana buat cani? i believe you have the answer...
